Research Assistant (m/f/d) Automotive Software Engineering

By 2025, the THI Institute AImotion Bavaria will build up 120 scientists in the field of artificial intelligence in order to strengthen Bavaria as a business location and its key industries. The mobility turnaround is central to today's economic and ecological social development. The MANNHEIM-AutoDevSafeOps research project is working on novel development approaches for future distributed, networked, and data-based mobility solutions to implement this societal transformation. https://www.thi.de/forschung/aimotion/researchaimotion/forschungsprojekte/mannheim-autodevsafeops/

Your tasks

  • You will research and develop fundamentals and methods of resilient system architectures using contract-based designs.

  • You will research and develop methods for the automatic synthesis of robust and safe behaviors in safety-critical distributed agent systems and for synthesizing monitoring components and mitigation strategies based on contract annotations.

  • You will elaborate concepts of automotive SoA for modular and incremental development of innovative functions, with a particular focus on learned components (e. g., DNNs).

  • You will evaluate the developed concepts in the context of software and hardware prototypes based on use cases.

  • You will write scientific publications and participate in national and international conferences and supervise theses and support the research and teaching activities of the professorship imaginatively.

Your profile

  • Very well-completed scientific university degree (master, diploma or equivalent) in computer science, flight and vehicle informatics, artificial intelligence, software or systems engineering

  • You are familiar with the use of Linux and have good programming skills in Java, C++ or Python.

  • You work in a structured, team-oriented and responsible manner and you are characterized by your own initiative and independent working style.

  • Interest in the application of formal methods and in pursuing a doctorate is desired.

  • Very good knowledge of German or English (C1), both written and spoken, and strong communication skills
